Sorry to hear things aren’t going well at the moment. There is talk of a looming/ongoing/another recession in the UK but I doubt it will have any impact on what you are doing. I think it’s quite natural to think everything is against you when things aren’t going well.

If you do want to take up article writing then why not craft a couple of example articles on areas you know about, maybe travel, fitness, tech and cars, something like that, and pop them on a domain as a mini-portfolio. Buyers are much more likely to purchase if they can see an example of quality and also a fixed price per word, plus it may give you a better idea of how long it takes to research. If you then post up on a4u, acorn, dnforum etc I’m sure you’ll get a few orders to start you off.

With regards to the aff marketing, going forward what are your thoughts, you sticking to the same strategy?

I used to comment on your blog a while ago and always used to bang on about building out a single good site and I still think that offers a more stable approach at the moment and can’t really see that changing in the foreseeable future.

I personally think this ‘howigotrich.net’ is your most successful site and although it may not earn you much money, because it is something you are interested in, you keep it updated, you write passionately, you get natural links and you have a regular crowd of followers who comment. Now, if you can do the same for something a little more commercial and also pushed the social marketing a bit more you could have quite a lucrative site.

Keep at it and you will find what works for you. Its just a big game of trial and error, eventually you will take the error part out.

There are definite ups and downs with affiliate marketing as it’s not always in your hands but don’t get too down as I’m sure it will pick up again.

if you have a few small sites that were ticking over and hit by panda, give me an e-mail. I can always try and help you rank them. Only conditions being:-

1) site must have original content
2) not under any penalty

If you need help in say 2 sites, I will do that just to give you a bit more breathing space.

@Danny I used to firmly believe that but the way my sites are going I need some cash in hand now. You know what they say “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush”.

I’m not that confident in my affiliate marketing abilities at the moment so I’d rather use a bit of my time on something that will definitely give me money now rather than spending it all my sites which might bring me some money sometime in the future.

I’ll see how it goes. It might be a major headache and not worth the time or money anyways.
