Google AdWords vs Google Keyword Tool part II

Just a quick update about this topic. According to AdWords, yesterday my campaign got 197 impressions. Bear in mind this wasn’t campaign wasn’t running a whole day but during that period my site got five hits.

So five as a percentage of 197 is 2.5%. Now I know my site is only at number two but that is a pretty poor showing. Needless to say no one has clicked on my ad.

I will wait and see what the stats are like for the next few days and report back.

Surely though, the click through rate is dependant on your ad too? Doesn’t that mean that your selected search term got 197 searches yesterday, in that period? How does that compare as a percentage to what google says, for number of local exact searches?

Are you only targeting the exact phrase, not broad or phrase?

Are your ads only showing on Google Search, not search partners or content network?

Are you bidding enough to appear on the front page for each search?

Are you sure your site is #2, you’re not using personalised search?

    Yes to the above.

It’s 25p a click to get on the first page. Had two clicks so far from the Ad and a few through organic serps.

That wasn’t launched a week ago I seen it months ago when I started looking into affiliate marketing I just ignored it because everyone is so into the keyword tool.

I have seen the SK Tool as well – unsure as to the difference between the two, other than nobody seems to use the SK tool.

Google present it as being ‘based on actual searches’…so not sure why the Keyword Tool exists, if it is based on anything other than actual searches! (and why everyone uses it, and not the other tool)

    Anyone?
