Greetings from Thailand

Sawadee krap!  I’ve been in Thailand for about four days now (seems a lot longer) and have just got the  Internet setup in the apartment.  It’s very hot and humid here so the air-con is coming in handy!

I’m planning to stay out here for a while and live off my earnings from Internet marketing.  I’ve got a few debts from back home to pay off which is a bit of a shame as it means I will need to earn more than I would’ve done from affiliate marketing but the cost of living here seems pretty cheap so far so I should be ok.  My goal for September was to earn £500 a month which is about 28,000 bhat.  This should be enough as long as I don’t go to too many western-type places or buy too many gadgets (I’ve already succumbed to a fake mini iPhone).  By Christmas I will be aiming for £1000 a month from affiliate marketing and if I don’t make that will probably have to  get a part-time job.

Anyone got any recommendations of things to see and do in Bangkok?

    Hey Seamaster

Thailand is a wonderful place, enjoy it. Khao San Road is almost a tourist destination in itself, watching backpackets who have travelled 5000 miles to watch Star Wars in a cafe. I recommend Jim Thompson’s House, it’s very nice, go to the river market and hit a couple of temples. Patpong Market is all good as well.

    Have a great trip!

That sounds really great. Are you on a tourist visa? How long do you plan to stay there? Keep us updated with your decision and do let us know if you were really able to make the most of your affiliate earnings [which you couldn't have had done back in the UK].

lso, you can come up with another post that might be useful handy guide on how to move to tax heaven or countries having low tax rates etc etc. How easy/difficult it was for you to get the basics done like finding an accomodation, internet connection, travelleing etc etc etc.

Would really like to see how it goes from here. All the very best.

    Cheers,
    Mike…

Strange time to go to thailand.. Is it not the start of the rainy season? I’d say it was the right time to be heading home from Thailand myself..

It’s the start of the academic year innit. Rainy season is ok anyway. Lots of cool lightening. Hasn’t really rained much either.

    Hi mate.

I’m currently in Thailand aswell. Only here for a month though. Brave thing you’re doing, if I wasn’t at uni I’d be doing the same…I love Thailand!

I’m currently on koh samui. I’d recommend taking a week off when you feel you’ve deserved it and head to koh phi phi, it’s paradise…literally!

Will add it to the list of places to see.

Seriously, the atmosphere in the resorts can be so happy-go-lucky that it’s easy to think that it’s all harmless fun.

But these sex workers are often young girls and their career choice is usually driven by poverty rather than desire.

What you get up to is your business and I’m not going to judge your decisions but you do need to wake up to the risks.

HIV and other sexually-transmitted infections are a big problem in these countries. If these girls didn’t insist on you using condoms then you can bet they don’t use condoms with other men too.

I’ve got a girlfriend so won’t be getting up to anything naughty!

Hey man, good luck with it all! I found your blog by accident whilst going through the a4u forums and think your honesty and openness about your earnings and goals is spot on. Wish you all the best with it…

Check out Jim Thompsons house, there’s only so many gold plated buddhas you can marvel at.

Check out patpong just so you can say you’ve seen a few ping pong tricks, tho nothing naughty obviously, and get down to the emerald cave at koh mook, tis pretty cool.

Oh, and make sure you’ve got a good backup system for your laptop just in case, you can get some massive storage on memory sticks nowadays.

    Enjoy

Cheers WhiteKnight. Just trying to share the information I have learnt so far and maybe inspire some people to start with AM.

I was near JT’s house today but was too hot so didnt make the trip but its on the list! Might try and find an online backup/storage service so I can get my data wherever I am. Anyone used one?

I’ve been to Thailand many times myself – last time was for 17 days back in March.

For a fun little day trip, try Koh Kret – an island in the Chao Praya River that can only be reached by boat.

Cheers Adrian, will have a look. I here Microsoft Mesh is supposed to be good too.

Thanks wordwrangler, there are lots of trips to do. I will have a look at that one. That blog looks good, he’s either doing very well or is a big blagger ;-)

Even though I have never been to Thailand, quite a number of my relatives live over there. It is my dream to visit this country one day and take a ride on the tuk-tuk’s.
