Link Authority Test Update

A few days ago I started a test to find out if new link building service Link Authority is any good.

Well its only been a few days and so far three of my articles have been submitted into the system. Two are on sites with PR2 and one is on a PR3 site.

On February 7 2012 my starting stats were:

  • Main keyword: #3
  • Plural of main keyword: #6

Today I am pleased to report my current stats as of February 10 2012 are:

  • Main keyword: #1
  • Plural of main keyword: #5

It could just be coincidence but its an encouraging start and will help me keep motivated to keep writing those 150 word articles.

If you want to sign up for Link Authority click here.

I’d be amazed if there was any correlation between the two at this early stage. Conventional wisdom states that you don’t see the true effects until AT LEAST six weeks…

  • Feb 10th, 2012 at 15:57 | #2

I’m inclined to agree with the first part but not the six weeks bit. I’ve seen results with other services within days many times in the past.

    Have you read Freakonomics?

This looks interesting Joe – I’ve signed up (using your link).

It says they don’t publish where the articles are published, but surely you can do a search for content used in the aticle?

    Thanks for using my link.

I’ve managed to find my posts so far. Just google the first sentence and it should be in the SERPs once the article gets indexed.

Then you can blast it with some other backlinks should you so desire. I haven’t done that yet as want to see how effective this tool is on its own.

I’ve just hired someone on Odesk to write me 10 x 150 word articles for $8 just in case I don’t manage to write one every day. I think you can get cheaper than that if you buy in bulk.

  • Feb 10th, 2012 at 17:04 | #5

Were the sites you got srticles on relevant?

I’ve just had my first site approved, so I need to get writing!

  • Feb 10th, 2012 at 17:10 | #6

Not really that relevant to be honest. But only had 3 published so far.

The sites had other posts on them that were slightly related to my niche but also other posts that weren’t.

I think they are going to be pretty general blogs where you get a post.

Will get a better idea after submitting my target of 30.

  • Feb 10th, 2012 at 20:43 | #7

It has to be understood that with systems like this, the effect you are essentially seeing are temp, and will last a bit after the post rolls off the home page.

This has meant that you will be entering a continuous cycle of writing post to maintain you level which is not something that I would advice for anyone.

Generally I am against writing for such networks, but its a personal preference. I think in your test include what happens if you leave that url alone for say 60 days.

Can someone explain to me how this link authority site works? I’m totally confused about what to do once signed in.

  • Feb 14th, 2012 at 12:30 | #9

You need to create a new project which can be one of your sites. Then you upload articles of 150+ words in to the system and then they get moderated by the powers that be.

But to post you need credits which you can either get by buying or submitting one of your PR2+ sites to them which they will then post other people’s posts to.

I signed up for the 1 credit a day which was about £8 per month.

I’m going to try it on another site now as it seems to be working quite well on the first site I am trying it on.

Yeah that is true but if it does work and it gets your site well ranked in Google which earns you money it would be worthwhile to keep the process going.

What are your thoughts on Social Money and 247Backlinks Joe, had much success with these?

  • Feb 14th, 2012 at 17:02 | #12

Depends how often thee blogs are crawled as to when those backlinks are picked up.

Joe, just be careful, It’s a bit risky if you are relying on others to choose where to post your Articles and links. You are effective relying on someone else to make sure those pr2+ sites added to the network don’t have penalties or aren’t spammy looking sites.

It may work ok for what you pay for. But you get what you pay for IMO. You’d be better paying more to get more relevant links from relevant blogs. It takes more time money and effort but it pays off in the end and you can also be sure you have got quality links that will be more reliable and not effect your ranking in the longterm. What you might be thinking is how much this will cost for quality but if you are investing into a decent domain that has the potential then it’s worth it in the end.

    Hope this helps

Oops I should have put the previous comment above my post!

  • Feb 15th, 2012 at 12:35 | #14

@Gary So far the posts have been indexed with in a day which is good.

But I get what you are saying about now knowing the quality or status of the sites they are posted to.

To be honest I wouldn’t know where to start with paying for posts/links on ‘normal’ websites. I’m sure it is better but at the moment I don’t really have resources for that. My ODesk account just got suspended today for non payment, that’s how skint I am!

I’ve been thinking of starting to try to build a blog network but not been able to find any suitable domains. I’m thinking of starting from scratch with domains I but not sure that is realistic.

    So many things to do!

    Joe,

You need to think about re investing so of your profits into something more valuable. Look for some decent domains that have good commercial resell value then you are investing into something that will pay off in the end.

If you don’t have the funds now, as I know it can be difficult relying on your affiliate income alone and with a young child. Then consider selling off some of your sites. Start with the ones not earning as much. AcornDomains is a great place to buy/sell/trade with other domainers in the UK.

For the blog network, it will take some investment again to get the network set up, but you could get some good returns from people wanting links. I’d say try and get aged sites that have some archive history, then if they don’t already have backlinks, throw some links at it and it will get a pagerank at the next pr update. You don’t have to get many links to those sites to get a PR2 or higher.

Hope it helps and I haven’t confused you

    All the best
    Gary

@Gary I will have a look at selling some of my sites, could do with a clean out. Although not sure how much they are worth!

I did look into buying aged sites that has some content in the past but it was pretty time consuming and I never managed to find anything I could buy so gave up.

My existing sites don’t have much PR so not sure how easy it will be to get any sites I do buy to PR2 and beyond.

Got any tips on increasing PR quickly?

    Thanks.

  • Feb 17th, 2012 at 11:50 | #17

Hey mate, yeah links with low OBL (outbound links) and its pretty easy to get PR2, just have to wait for the update.

Balance is weighing up how much it will cost in content, links and time to get a new site with decent enough PR or if you can buy aged site with pr already could work out about the same and saves you the time/hassle.

  • Feb 17th, 2012 at 11:58 | #18

Just been checking my existing sites and most of them are PR0 or PR1 which is pitiful considering some are over 2 years old! Obviously been doing it wrong for a while now!!

  • Feb 17th, 2012 at 19:53 | #19

Some of my ranking niches are pr1 and 0 for older ones and newer niches with pr2+

I think this is because the newer ones are getting fresher links.

Just just look at page rank with your sites unless selling links. Look at seomoz score too

  • Feb 22nd, 2012 at 20:23 | #20

Signed up with them a while ago (when they first launched) but never got around to adding any sites in. Just added 3 x PR2 so gives me 6 submissions per day. Not sure I’ll use them all but the domains were not being used for anything anyway.

Hi Neale. Thanks for signing up. I’m enjoying your Thailand site. You should set it up so that we can subscribe to the RSS feed and leave comments as it has the potential to be quite interactive. What’s the weather like up there at the moment? It’s smoking hot in Bangkok.

  • Feb 23rd, 2012 at 06:22 | #23

@Shane: It seems to be working for me on the sites I’m tried so will keep using it for now. 150 words is quite time consuming if you don’t want to lose your daily quota. I tried to hire someone from odesk but they were rubbish! I’m on the hunt for some PR domains myself now.

  • Feb 23rd, 2012 at 07:17 | #24

@Joe The weather in Chiang Rai is awesome, I have to say I like hot though, anything under 60 / 15 and I’m crying like a baby.. I’m expecting to develop the living in Thailand site and add rss, comments and a forum, in the near future I truly built it on the fly daily during January, I know I could go down the WP road and have it all done in a day.. I’m going to hang on to an idea I have and have, and have it be my own and different from the crowd..
